Homemade Deodorant

As so many of our products that we can buy in store, they are filled with toxic chemicals that can alter our body chemistry and cause health issues with prolonged use. There are so many options out there to create your own products such as deodorant and there are even a few natural, healthy options that you can purchase in store, but there is still a small chance of purchasing one that has a chemical that is not safe for us, even ones labeled as natural.

Our armpits and what we put on them play a big part to our health. We have our lymphatic system right in the area of our armpits and putting those chemicals directly on them can cause them to become blocked causing other medical issues. When the lymph nodes in the armpit area becomes clogged, that can cause discomfort and swelling.

When we use natural deodorants, the bacteria levels can start to drop. The bacteria culture can rebalance and prevent odor causing bacteria from overproducing. Over time the odor will start to fade and moisture levels return to normal.

A common ingredient in deodorants is aluminum compounds, this is linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease and many other health issues. To maintain our health the best way possible, we can switch to more natural alternatives, buy a clean, natural deodorant or make your own at home.

Tips to prepare for the switch to natural deodorant

  1. Don’t be afraid to sweat, the aluminum in regular deodorants clogs pores, blocking sweat

  2. Prepare with underarm mask

  3. Exfoliate

  4. Stay hydrated

  5. Freshen up with apple cider vinegar

  6. Be patient

When we switch to a more natural deodorant, for the best results and to help unclog pores, it is great to do an armpit detox.
