Magical Moon

What wonderous beauty we get to be a part of each evening when the sun begins to set and the moon makes her appearance in the sky, gracing us with a light in the darkness. The moon has a major impact on our whole being, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. You can do your research on more details on how she affects us but I am going to mostly talk about the spiritual aspect here today. 

 

Each moon phases has its own magic that we can harness to use to better our lives in various ways. When we learn the energy that each phase possesses, we can use that to our advantage to work with her. The moon has a big role in how Mother Earth is working each day, to the push and pull of the tides, to the cycles of life and to our emotional state.  

 

There are many studies out there that will show that the moon may have an effect on us in changing our sleep cycles, our emotions, causing irritability, decreased concentration and focus, and elevated stress hormones. The biggest affect can take place in our mental and spiritual self. 

 

Each phase has a purpose and power to change our lives through knowing her and what she is teaching us. There are 8 phases of the moon, the new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last/third quarter, and waning crescent. Each moon phase cycle last around 3 to 3.5 days.  

 

Moon phases and meanings: 

New Moon 

Fresh start, reboot, set intentions, letting go 

Waxing Crescent Moon 

Manifesting, hustle, take action 

First Quarter Moon 

Balance, overcome obstacles, perseverance 

Waxing Gibbous Moon 

Refinement, endurance, celebration 

Full Moon 

Fulfillment, gratitude, reflection 

Waning Gibbous Moon 

Release, let go, clear space 

Third Quarter Moon 

Balance, setting boundaries 

Waning Crescent Moon 

Self-care, recharge, recuperate 

 



 

Rituals and habits for each moon phase: 

New Moon 

Light a candle, journal, get specific about what you want to manifest or call into your life the next 30 days or even longer, you can burn the piece of paper or place it somewhere until the Full Moon. This gives you the opportunity to set intentions and have a fresh start. 

Waxing Crescent Moon 

Take 5 minutes to celebrate wins, continue to manifest desires and work toward them. 

First Quarter Moon 

Meditate on what you want, envision it, also a good time to forgive to bring that balance into your desires. 

Waxing Gibbous Moon 

Practice gratitude, create affirmations to reflect on daily. 

Full Moon 

Time to fully celebrate blessings in your life, visualize fulfilment of your intentions and goals, be grateful it is becoming steadily fulfilled, journal or write a letter thanking the moon, universe, whoever you choose, for their support and encouragement. Take time to reflect on your intentions and desires. 

Waning Gibbous Moon 

Time to release what does not serve you, write these things down, burn the piece of paper and visualize these things leaving your life in the smoke. 

Third Quarter Moon 

Declutter, create a schedule or budget, keep it small and simple to bring balance and to set boundaries for yourself. 

Waning Crescent Moon 

Take care of you, do things that make you happy, feel cared for and loved by you. 

 

Crystal correlations with each moon phase: 

New moon- labradorite, aquamarine, obsidian 

Waxing crescent- rose quartz 

First quarter- tigers eye, carnelian 

Waxing gibbous- citrine 

Full moon- moonstone 

Waning gibbous- clear quartz, amethyst 

Third quarter- black tourmaline 

Waning crescent- bloodstone 

 

The moon is so magical with the ability to light up the earth and light up our lives. She is an incredible tool to work with on our spiritual journey. I hope you take time to look upon the moon and stand in awe at her power and learn to work with her. With all my love and light.
