Deep within your mind, there lies a place that reflects the soul, a place with fertile ground, beautiful landscapes, potential for a tranquil garden. The soil is rich, taking each thought as a seed to grow. At times the garden within is full of colorful flowers, green grass, neat rows of positive, healthy seeds. Other times, those flowers may wilt and dull, grass a little brown, weeds sprouting about, suffocating good roots.
We have a choice which garden we want within us. There will always be times when weeds will sprout around the beauty you have sewn but we can go within our minds and pull those weeds, tending to our gardens with love and care. Thinking positively and setting intentions help to plant seeds of growth, healing and enlightenment.
Our mind is a fertile ground and the seeds we plant are extremely important. As we water those seeds with continuous reflection on those thoughts, they begin to take root in our subconscious. The longer we allow those seeds to root and grow, the harder it can be to extract those from our garden. Some of these plants that lie within our gardens have deep roots that have taken up space for years. Those seeds that we planted, whether we planted it on our own or by the hand of another that planted a thought in our mind.
It is so easy for our garden to get out of hand with weeds of negativity, doubts and fears. We allow one seed to sink into the soil and we water it over time, sometimes unknowingly. It continues to grow and spread its roots deep and before we know it, it has begun to affect the healthy plants around it, suffocating their roots. There are times where these weeds can be deceiving too, some may have flowers that bloom and pretty leaves, they hide well amongst the good, not wanting to let go of the earth that have grown in.
At times when we take a moment to reflect and see what type of seeds we have been planting, whether that be negative self-talk, doubts of the future, fear, limiting beliefs, we can see them for what they are, weeds, death to our minds. It can be hard to remove those that have taken root for so long. We may pull them up and discard them, but deep within the soil, there are morsels of root still planted deep down, leaving space for that thought to fester and rise again if we let it. We must take time and energy to fully remove the weed, digging deep down and ensuring we are leaving nothing behind that could hinder our progress in changing the way we think, the way our gardens flourish.
Now, we must not loose sight spending so much time on the weeds, letting ourselves forget to tend to the beauty in the garden. If we don't pay attention, we will dwell on those negative thoughts that we are trying to rid our gardens of and allow bits and pieces to remain hidden within the soil. We mustn't linger on those plants that seek to destroy and forget to show love to those healthy, positive plants that abound. We can take the time necessary to weed the land but then go back to the good, water them with affirmations, encouragement, acceptance and love.
We want those plants to continue to thrive and the roots to dig deep, holding firm. Positive self-talk, acceptance for who we are, appreciation for our progress, and tending to each one with care will help them prosper and change our minds entirely. The love we give ourselves, the patience we show ourselves, that is warm sunshine to our garden. The garden as a whole needs much work to maintain fertile ground and strong roots.
Don't be discouraged by moments or even periods of time when the healthy, positive plants look a little wilted, maybe because we have become lax or disheartened, the roots are still there, holding firm, patiently waiting for you to visit with them, to bring the sunshine and water.
My favorite way to tend to my inner garden to ensure there is no over growth of negative and decaying roots, it is a simple but effective meditation practice. You will get into a meditative state, relaxing your mind and body. I begin to see a bright light within my mind's eye that begins to light the way to this beautiful garden, full of life and color. I then envision my higher self, she is so beautiful, radiant, with messy hair, bare feet in the dirt, basket in hand. She begins to take in the garden, walking each aisle, tending to each plant with love and kindness, paying close attention to any weeds of doubts, self-destruction, limiting beliefs, fears, and many others that may be coming in, trying to suffocate the plants of growth, healing, love, acceptance, peace and forgiveness.
She walks through filling her basket with those weeds, being sure to grace each plant with love and appreciation for standing firmly grounded. Once she is done she take the basket of weeds, grabbing them into her hands, thanking them for what they have taught her and throws them up toward the sun, watching them disappear.
This practice can take a few minutes and sometimes much longer, depending on how much we have let grow in our gardens that do not serve our higher purpose. I have found this to be a great healing method to clear my mind and soul of negative, ugly things that have tried to take root in my heart.
I hope that you can use this practice and make it your own to suit you and your journey. Remember our thoughts are seeds that get planted in our minds garden. Be mindful and tend to your gardens with care and patient. I hope the sun shines bright upon your gardens today.
